Diabetics at TGI Friday
If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.
Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:
Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Okay..what's there not to like about good REAL ice cream. My family and I were greeted by super friendly staff. I guess that's their motto to be friendly is on point to fit the name of the store. Ice cream prices were crazy inexpensive. For 5.99 I got a 5 scoop treat called The Jim Dandy and in my travels I've been to places where you get a simple scoop on waffle cone for that. My goodness it was yummy with a capital D for delicious. Bananas,,sprinkles, sauces of all kinds, bananas AND whipped topping. I was in desert heaven. I would have shared with the one cousin who didn't want anything, but it was declined. So sad too bad..it was all mine mine mine. :)~ I would so go back if they had one over in the Fort Myers area. None near-by so it was a special treat on this visit. They need to open up some stores in the Seattle area. I would be there! :)

Fish and chips were decent, Cole slaw was ok. Ice cream wasn't spectacular as I found the serving dishes to be difficult to handle the toppings. However the worst part of my visit was the overwhelming stench of vomit...we almost left but were determined to try this "amazing" ice cream. I might go back eventually just to see if the stench is gone but if it isn't, I will walk right back out. Service was acceptable.

I like Friendly's just not THIS friendly's (yeah lower case F). Cons: its not very clean and the wait staff (on the two days i went) was pretty dismissive. The plates they gave our table at first were dirty and the silverware was too. Pro: the burger was pretty good and who in the world can beat a full dinner and a sunde for 9.99! no one. Best thing about the place: MILKSHAKES go with the forbidden choc.

This place continues to go downhill more each day. Stopped by for a couple of Sundays and they were out of coffee and moca ice cream. How is that possible? Looked like they are were using the qtr size ice cream instead of the big tubs. Not very clean most of the time and wait staff can be a real hit of miss.

I've heard about Friendly's and their legendary ice cream for so many years, yet never visited one because there isn't any where I live. So, you know what that means? Yup - field trip to Delray beach, home of the last nearby Friendly's in existence! Much like the other reviews here have noted, this location looks a little worse for the wear. This place has seen better days. It's clean, but it has that sticky-tables, run-down diner feel to it. I do have to give them credit though for managing to keep this location open in the wake of Friendly's bankruptcy, that can be difficult for any franchisee. I just wish they'd put a little more effort into making the restaurant look well-maintained. The service was mediocre at best. Our waiter seemed pretty disinterested in serving us and disappeared for long periods of time. Even asking for water seemed to be a big task for him. He also did one of my pet peeves: dropping the check on the table along with the entrees. To me, that signals that the server is checked out from serving you, which this guy definitely was. Just bad practice. The food? Delicious, in that greasy diner kind of way. I had the honey BBQ chicken super melt sandwich and it was fabulous in its heart stopping goodness. But hey, if you're eating here, it's for a once-in-awhile indulgence anyway. The honey BBQ sauce was sweet, but kind of got lost in all the cheese, bacon, and ranch on the sandwich. Yeah, fattening food problems. To cap off the meal, I had the hunka chunka PB Fudge lava cake sundae. Yes, it was as unwieldy as its name would lead you to believe. Our waiter tried his best to dissuade me from ordering it -- "are you SURE you can eat all that yourself?" -- and I did my best to prove his grumpy self wrong. It was HUGE (and probably better shared, to be honest.) Three scoops of the PB fudge ice cream, peanut butter sauce, a chocolate cake in the middle, oh yeah, and a reese's peanut butter cup on top. The peanut butter sauce was divine and made the sundae. My boyfriend had the Reese's pieces sundae and it looked great too, though the large parfait glasses they serve the 3 scoop sundaes in are a little challenging to eat out of. To sum it up - don't come here without having an ice cream sundae! It would be like going to Disney World and missing out on Magic Kingdom. Just don't do it. Save some room from your meal, or better yet, just stop in for a sundae. Yum yum!

My son and I go for breakfast once in a while. I like their hash browns and they made my eggs exactly the way i wanted. (over medium, not too runny) We were drooling over their ice cream menu but we were so full after our meal that we didnt get to try the ice creams.

If you're gonna go to Friendly's you need to do it right., and by doing it right i mean no food for at least 4 hours prior to heading there. Their ice cream sundaes are unbelievable. Order in 2,3, or 5 scoops (go for 5 the bowl is much easier to eat out of!) and filled with amazing toppings like reeses pieces, full reese's cups, peanut butter sauce (to die for), hot chocolate and marshmellow sauce. I'm seriously in heaven right and and am seriously glad that i live 40 minutes away so i wouldnt be there more often. YUM. takes you back to when you were a little kid

About TGI Friday
TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.
Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
